That post from Artofthepony keeps getting passed around with my reblog by people I follow/mutual follow and it’s making me think more and more.
I didn’t know her personally at all. I knew her at best as a simple fan, but her art and silly text posts did a small part in brightening my experience…
As long as tumblr hosts the content, though I also had these thoughts about comics I drew, some that get passed around all over the net. In a way, my work will live on much longer then I will. Then I understood that creators die but there work carries on. I realized writers from the past, long dead have had there works turned into movies other things because people enjoyed them. In a way, there ideas became immortal, as long as we keep retelling them.
I’d like to add something to what Cy is going on here…
We are all in some small way a part of history and we all some day will pass into history.
Whether we are remembered for thousands of years into the future… or by next Tuesday is irrelevant to some degree. This is a matter of perception. But I can say with some certainty that what matters are these two things…
The first is that we made the best impact upon others that influences them, thereby our thoughts, our ideas our genes, our what ever we have… continues on in the collective human state of being. We keep moving forward.
The Second? That we enjoy the ride of life as much as we can while we can because never can we predict with absolute 100% certainty we will see tomorrow or the very next minute.
Death is part of life and a natural process. Its an inevitable. And as such those who wish to live the fullest must first embrace death, not fear it. To fear death is then to fear life, fear living and contributing because to contribute more to the world around us means more risk and more danger we expose ourselves too. There are more dangers waiting for you in your home kitchen or bathroom if you aren’t too careful then there are driving on the open road! So… My advice is when faced with the concept of death as an ultimate inevitable for all living things? Embrace this fact as truth and go out there and live! Experience and share things. Discover the world and new experiences. It doesn’t need to be a grand adventure taking you across the world oceans. It may start with crossing the street and into a neighborhood you’ve never took a stroll into! Just live and all the rest will fall into place. Some of it will be problems sure but life is nothing but a series of making discoveries, being bothered by practical problems and then solving each practical problem as they occur.
I fear I maybe tangenting here a bit but I do stress this… Live life and embrace death. Mourn the passing of a wonderful thing that made you happy but remember why what ever that thing was how it made you happy. Spread that happiness to others and let it live through you. Because if you don’t then that small piece of history truly ends there and history will move on until finally all of us are embraced by death. So keep the memory and those feelings alive in your own heart.
As a mostly machine pony with super science at my call I’ll live for ever. Sorry for you guys though. I’ll remember you fondly.
